Like all modern software-defined vehicles, the truck is not perfect. But it is so much fun.
For fuel economy reasons Ford made these trucks super light - aluminum body panels, plastic intake manifold and oil pan, full boxed frame rails but with a lighter gauge steel than you'd expect. Then you get one with the smallest cab and shortest bed they offer and slap a V8 into it - this 5.0L packs 400hp and 400lb/ft of torque. Punch it from a stop in two wheel drive and you can easily spin out the rear wheels. I pulled a loaded trailer for the first time recently and the truck acted like there was no weight back there at all.
It is gigantic though. If they Mavericks or Rangers in a single cab (ideally with a V8) I might have gone that route instead.
